Finite Horizon Optimal Stopping of Time-Discontinuous Functionals with Applications to Impulse Control with Delay

چکیده
We study finite horizon optimal stopping problems for continuous time Feller-Markov processes. The functional depends on time, state and external parameters, and may exhibit discontinuities with respect to the time-variable. Both left and right-hand discontinuities are considered. We investigate the dependence of the value function on the parameters, initial state of the process and on the stopping horizon. We construct ε-optimal stopping times and provide conditions under which an optimal stopping time exists. We demonstrate how to approximate this optimal stopping time by solutions to discrete-time problems. Our results are applied to the study of impulse control problems with finite time horizon, decision lag and execution delay.

Optimal Finite-time Control of Positive Linear Discrete-time Systems
This paper considers solving optimization problem for linear discrete time systems such that closed-loop discrete-time system is positive (i.e., all of its state variables have non-negative values) and also finite-time stable. For this purpose, by considering a quadratic cost function, an optimal controller is designed such that in addition to minimizing the cost function, the positivity proper...
متن کاملSub-optimal Estimation of HIV Time-delay Model using State-Dependent Impulsive Observer with Time-varying Impulse Interval: Application to Continuous-time and Impulsive Inputs
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) weakens the immune system in confronting various diseases by attacking to CD4+T cells. In modeling HIV behavior, the number of CD4+T cells is considered as the output. But, continuous-time measurement of these cells is not possible in practice, and the measurement is only available at variable intervals that are several times bigger than sampling time. In this...
متن کاملAn inventory model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with imperfect quality, delay in payments and time value money
In this paper, Economic Order Quantity ( ) based model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with imperfect quality, permissible delay in payments and inflation is proposed. We adopt a time-dependent demand function. Also, the effects of time value of money are studied using the Discounted Cash Flow approach. Moreover, we assume that orders may contain a random proportion of defective items...
متن کاملSolution examples of an impulse control problem
Optimal impulse control problems were introduced by Bensoussan and Lions [5] and then formalized by other authors. In the past decades, many studies related to this problem have been reported in [2, 3, 10, 12]. These studies showed the existence of an optimal strategy but it seems that an explicit form of this optimal strategy is often missing. Barles showed in [4] that the optimal cost functio...
متن کاملImpulse control problem on finite horizon with execution delay
We consider impulse control problems in finite horizon for diffusions with decision lag and execution delay. The new feature is that our general framework deals with the important case when several consecutive orders may be decided before the effective execution of the first one. This is motivated by financial applications in the trading of illiquid assets such as hedge funds. We show that the ...
